Wrapping Up the 2026 SDAA State Field Championships
This past weekend, top archers from across the state converged on Yankton, South Dakota — a city well-known as a premier hub for archery — to compete in the 2026 South Dakota State Field Championships.
Hosted by the South Dakota Archers Association (SDAA) on June 13-14, 2026, the event brought together a dedicated field of 30 registered archers to test their precision, consistency, and focus on the outdoor ranges. Though it was a small, highly specialized group this year, they represented multiple divisions and showcased incredible local talent.

Competitors tackled challenging field, hunter, and animal rounds. Based on the Day 1 - 72 arrow qualification rounds, the archers put up impressive numbers in their respective freestyle divisions:
- Freestyle Professional Adult Male: Grady Kane put on a dominant show, shooting a staggering 409 total points and hitting the X-ring 51 times.
- Freestyle Adult Male: Jacob McArthur led the adult division through 90 arrows, tallying 355 total points in a highly disciplined performance.
